No one needs an introduction to the BBMF, surely the famous and best-loved aircraft in the world?
The organizers are justifiably proud of the fact that they have been dealing with the Flight for over thirty years……long before our first venture here at Henstridge.
We have been fortunate in securing their Fly-pasts at most of our Wings & Wheels events. We have shared with our audiences most, if not all, of the BBMF’s serviceable aircraft.
We have had visits from the Hurricanes, the Merlin and Griffon Spitfires, the venerable Dakota and…..the once in a lifetime thrill…… of not one but TWO Lancasters!
Their visits may be brief (they can only be as diversions from transits between other shows) but they are never less than memorable.
Wings & Wheels is NOT an airshow and the fly-pasts are therefore NOT governed by the increasingly stringent CAA/RAF rules for display flying.
We’ll say no more than if you want to count the rivets beneath a 300mph Mk19 Spit or check for oil-leaks in the cavernous bomb-bay of the Lanc……then you had better put our date in your diary.
We are currently awaiting the outcome of this year’s bid. On the downside, the abandonment of so many airshows mean far fewer transits, but this is the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and we are keen to tell
some of the stories of our local 10 Group squadrons.
